Last Saturday was the annual Whisky Live Singapore, located in the scenic Capella Hotel in Sentosa, it was two days of full on whisky tasting and research. Whisky Live made its way to the shores of Singapore in 2014, and has seen massive success each year. The event is hosted by French whisky atelier, La Maison du Whisky, who operates a shop in Mohammed Sultan Rd in Singapore. Whisky Live 2016 also sees many brands such as William Grant & Sons, Kavalan, The Dalmore, Aberlour, Bruichladdich, Nikka Whisky, and Paul John as the supporting brands. A handful of Singapore’s best bars were also included to each do a pop-up, amongst them, 28 Hong Kong St, Jigger & Pony, the Spiffy Dapper, Anti:dote, Lime House, Bread St Kitchen, The Other Room, Gibson, Hyde, and Soi 60 Thai. Dave Broom and a group brand ambassadors are also included in masterclass sessions, while VIP ticket holders were granted access to the VIP room and Collector’s room, they were also treated to visiting a re-enactment of Bar Trench from Tokyo, where guests experienced original cocktails from Rogerio Igarashi Vaz himself.
We had the pleasure to taste so many whiskies and met many interesting personalities from the industry. It’ll take a whole day to write everything down here, so we’ll let the pictures do the talking. Check out our dram review section for our take on some of the tasty drams that we sampled.
